Abstract
The impostor phenomenon refers to people who express an internal experience of intellectual phoniness despite their successes or objective proofs explaining their current situation. A low level of this syndrome can be relatively acceptable and be positively lived: its allow motivation, commitment or humility - although these testimonies are rare. Its expression can however cause an important psychological distress and a barrier in the expression of the individual potential even in a low intensity. Anxiodepressive disorders, burnout, or personality disorders can be cited. This article proposes a clinical description of the impostor phenomenon as well as therapeutic proposals.
