Abstract
⺠The paper explores the determinants of the frequency and the probability of sports participation. ⺠The Zero-Inflated Ordered Probit (ZIOP) model is applied. ⺠The ZIOP model allows accounting for excessive zero observations. ⺠It distinguishes between genuine 'non-participants' and the ones who do not participate at a time. ⺠The decision to take part and the frequency of sports participation are driven by separate factors.
