Abstract
⺠I study the impact of the quality of institutions on fiscal policy volatility. ⺠The volatility refers only to the discretionary part of fiscal policy ⺠Fiscal institutions help to reduce fiscal policy volatility. ⺠Bigger countries and governments experience lower levels of volatility ⺠Political factors, except the concentration of power in parties, do not matter.
