Abstract
⺠I examine variation in doctors' fees when they are free to set fees. ⺠Linking fees to patient income data reveals higher fees for high income patients. ⺠The average fee gap for a standard GP consultation is 25% of a minimum fee. ⺠Fee gap is reduced substantially by competition, but not by local area income.
