Abstract
► We explore changes in wages and in rank position for job movers, using rich longitudinal linked employer-employee data. ► Movers enjoy a wage premium, unless the move is involuntary. ► The wage premium of job movers declines with rank inside the new firm. ► This indicates that movers trade-off money and rank position.
