Abstract
⺠Hyperbolic discounting modifies the incentives underlying public provision. ⺠The preference for immediate gratification faced by the high-ability type weakens the policy incentive associated with the self-selection constraint. ⺠Paternalistic and welfarist governments obey the same policy rule for public goods.
