Abstract
► We study the link between supplier credit and customer advance payment. ► Supplier credit and cash in advance are substitute terms of payment for many firms. ► We identify categories of firms that use the two payment terms as complements. ► Advance payment may signal buyer creditworthiness and lead to more supplier credit.
