Abstract
⺠We decompose the intergenerational correlation coefficient of education. ⺠This allows us to account for mobility patterns of subgroups of the population. ⺠We analyse the intergenerational persistence of education in Italy. ⺠The persistence of educational attainment is studied, decades after major reforms. ⺠College education remains a sort of glass ceiling for many Italian children.
