Abstract
âºWe question the unemployment invariance hypothesis for the US. âºWe document a relationship between unemployment and labor force participation. âºFindings against the invariance hypothesis are in line with Ãsterholm (2010). âºCointegration analysis is robust to gender-specific data. âºAppropriate restrictions on the cointegrating relationship are tested.
