Abstract
⺠Data are on 17 industrial countries from 1982 to 2003. ⺠We use a new index of exchange rate volatility and a large set of controls. ⺠We find that higher exchange rate volatility increases the unemployment rate. ⺠The magnitude of the effect is small.
