Abstract
► I show that female Chief Executive Officers underperform their male counterparts. ► Female CEOs generate 0.35% lower monthly risk adjusted shareholders' returns. ► This underperformance is significant, of comparable magnitude to the value premium. ► I measure risk adjusted performance by cluster sample econometric methods. ► Cluster sample methods are more efficient than the traditional portfolio approach.
