Abstract
⺠Education and mortality are positively correlated among disability applicants. ⺠The rejected applicants are healthier, but are less educated and have lower earnings. ⺠The rejected applicants are more comparable using propensity score weighting. ⺠Weighting does not alter the conclusions about the effect of benefits on earnings.
