Abstract
âºRose (2004) found little evidence of the WTO's role in enhancing its members' bilateral trade. ⺠Subsequent attempts to explain this apparently puzzling finding fail to simultaneously address three issues. ⺠The issues are sample selection, proper definition of WTO membership, and proper controls for multilateral resistance. ⺠Addressing all three yields little evidence of a positive effect of the WTO.
