Abstract
⺠We model the relationship between inflation and its uncertainty in the new EU members. ⺠Higher inflation uncertainty leads to higher inflation only prior to EU accession. ⺠During EU accession and entry, inflation uncertainty has no effect on mean inflation. ⺠Results show the importance of controlling for shifts in policy regimes.
