Abstract
► We model the relationship between inflation and its uncertainty in the new EU members. ► Higher inflation uncertainty leads to higher inflation only prior to EU accession. ► During EU accession and entry, inflation uncertainty has no effect on mean inflation. ► Results show the importance of controlling for shifts in policy regimes.
