Abstract
► We investigate the effect of average wage information in a gift-exchange experiment. ► We provide either quantitative or qualitative information on the average wage paid across markets. ► Information on the average wage reduces wages and efforts in one-shot relationships. ► This information increases wages or efforts in repeated relationships.
