Abstract
Using candidates' multiple appearances in elections in a professional association with different photographs accompanying ballots, I show that exogenous increases in beauty raise chances of electoral success. The outcomes do not stem from correlations of ascriptive characteristics with unchanging unobserved differences in productivity-enhancing characteristics.
