Abstract
► I analyze the effects of a pre-announced government consumption expenditure shock. ► I ensure correct estimation of the innovations by using the Kalman filter. ► The structural shocks are identified by sign restrictions. ► Sign restrictions potentially differ before and after the realization of the shock. ► Private consumption responds negatively and turns positive afterwards.
