Abstract
⺠I analyze the effects of a pre-announced government consumption expenditure shock. ⺠I ensure correct estimation of the innovations by using the Kalman filter. ⺠The structural shocks are identified by sign restrictions. ⺠Sign restrictions potentially differ before and after the realization of the shock. ⺠Private consumption responds negatively and turns positive afterwards.
