Abstract
► We use detailed time-use data for seven industrialized countries from the 1970s. ► We find general decreases in men's market work, and increases in men's unpaid work and childcare. ► We find increases in women's paid work and child care coupled with decreases in unpaid work. ► In contrast to increases in leisure in the US, there are no common trends across countries. ► We uncover a widespread increase in leisure inequality in favor of lower educated adults.
