Abstract
⺠Union veterans were more likely to migrate by 1880 than nonveterans. ⺠Unskilled veterans were more likely to become white-collar workers or farmers. ⺠Unskilled veterans were less likely to become artisans than nonveterans. ⺠The differences by veteran status are attributable to military experiences.
