Abstract
⺠We study the effect of not inducing a correct common prior in a signaling game. ⺠We provide a theory why outcomes with and without common prior may be different. ⺠We run an experiment to test the theory. ⺠We find that for some priors, outcomes are different with and without common prior. ⺠We estimate a learning model that accounts for the experimental data.
