Whom do you distrust and how much does it cost? An experiment on the measurement of trust

► We advance the behavioral measurement of trust in economics. ► We note the importance of clearly specifying the target of trust when attempting to measure it. ► Holding constant the target of trust, behavioral and attitudinal trust measures are correlated. ► We introduce a novel behavioral measure of distrust, to serve as a complement to the investment game.
