Abstract
► We investigate whether a buyer wants to hold public or private negotiations with two sellers. ► We show that the buyer (weakly) prefers private negotiations. ► Private negotiations may result in an inefficient trade while public negotiations always result in efficiency. ► We show that the sellersʼ price deadlines are crucial for the buyerʼs (strict) preference for privacy.
