Abstract
⺠Adding noise to a standard wasteful signaling game leads to very different equilibrium properties. ⺠More noise induces high types aiming for separation to increase their signaling expenditures. ⺠As noise increases from medium to high, subjects shift from coordinating on separation to pooling. ⺠For low noise no separating equilibrium exists, nevertheless subjects do coordinate on separation.
