Abstract
⺠In trust game experiments higher fall-back payoffs after no-trust reduce cooperation. ⺠Cooperation is also less likely in one shot trust games than in infinite games. ⺠Infinite play stimulates subjects to choose the trust game with lower fall backs. ⺠The findings thus show that explicit incentives affect relational contracting. ⺠Subjects choose weak explicit incentives to facilitate implicit agreements.
