Abstract
⺠Since the 1990s an industry has emerged that has harvested standing underwater trees in lakes around the world. ⺠There may be as many as 300 million trees submerged in reservoirs worldwide. ⺠Economic expectations for this industry are derived from a marketable story about connecting consumers with lost wood. ⺠Uncertainty can become productive in creating expectations of value as long as materials can be audited and managed. ⺠Findings are based on interviews with industry leaders and secondary data sources.
