Abstract
⺠Reports findings of research in rural Tanzania on the effects of increased donor funding to civil society organisations. ⺠Argues that increased donor funding has reshaped the work of African CSOs through new contracting relations. ⺠Demonstrates how targeted funding and training has created a civil society sector that has national coverage. ⺠Considers how civil society 'work' is being recast through contracting, volunteering and scalar work.
