Abstract
⺠Orphaned youth heading households undertake very high levels of care work. ⺠Gendered time-space caring practices conflict with linear and cyclical rhythms of everyday life. ⺠Time scarcity has negative outcomes on young people's health, education and mobility. ⺠'Successful' transitions to adulthood are restricted by caring responsibilities. ⺠Changing contexts and relations of care mediate young people's agency.
