Abstract
⺠Political ecology research should engage with key actors in government and civil society. ⺠Environmental justice should be a central goal of engaged political ecology research. ⺠Challenges include misconceptions about political ecology and hostile reactions to criticism. ⺠A practical guide to engaged PE research and communication strategy is provided.
