Abstract
⺠The agrarian system concept in agricultural research is unique. ⺠The concept emerged from the French school of Comparative Agriculture. ⺠It is an approach that analyzes productive processes along side social processes. ⺠Its main characteristics include nested scales of analysis and historical analysis. ⺠Identifying crises and agrarian changes is inherent to agrarian systems research.
