Abstract
⺠May encompass regions with different local ecologies and different local urban regimes. ⺠These specific differences lead to contrasting approaches to ecosystem management and land use even within the same set of rules. ⺠Longitudinal studies can reveal the co-evolution of ecological, political and social interactions that create local variability.
