Abstract
⺠The article investigates the Japanese promotion of intellectual property rights (IPR) in Vietnam. ⺠It points to the specific challenges of institutionalizing property rights in a transitional context. ⺠Highlights the role of legal intermediaries who connect the objectives of Japanese public and private actors. ⺠Illustrates the coherence and distinctions between bilateral and multilateral IPR policy as developmental tools.
