Abstract
⺠This paper details how chengzhongcun(s) are transformed into informal settlements. ⺠Spatial informality in China is related to the legacy of socialist institutions. ⺠Different social groups interpret the function of informal settlements differently. ⺠Chengzhongcun(s) manifest new spatial transformation in post-socialist cities.
