Abstract
⺠We experimentally study contracts that use relative and absolute output of agents. ⺠We compare these schemes (RPR) to tournament and independent piece-rate schemes. ⺠Theoretically, RPR outperforms both tournament and independent piece-rate schemes. ⺠The experimental results are consistent with the theory. ⺠Also when other alternatives are available subjects are not averse to RPR scheme.
