Abstract
⺠The common practice of granting traditional stock options is suboptimal. ⺠Firms are better off linking incentive pay to average stock prices. ⺠Asian stock options are more cost effective than traditional stock options. ⺠Asian stock options also provide stronger incentives to increase stock price. ⺠The benefit of averaging is achieved with little impact on risk incentives.
