Abstract
⺠We analyze how banking crises affect growth in an international sample of firms. ⺠We separate the finance effect from the asset allocation effect. ⺠Crises reduce firms' intangible investments, which intensifies the economic downturn. ⺠The negative growth effect is stronger in developed countries.
