⺠Market discipline weakens after a banking crisis in a sample of 66 countries. ⺠Market discipline weakens more where bank regulation favors it before the crisis. ⺠Market discipline weakens more in countries with better institutions. ⺠A more accommodative approach to resolve the crisis weakens more market discipline.
