Abstract
⺠We document an investor preference for domestic financial institutions. ⺠We call this preference the home-institution bias. ⺠The home-institution bias is distinct from the home-asset bias. ⺠The home-institution bias suggests individuals prefer dealing with the familiar. ⺠The home-institution bias is strongest among unsophisticated investors.
