Abstract
⺠Central Asia appears vastly understudied compared with other world regions. ⺠This is due in part to a lack of accessible and useful primary survey data. ⺠Many research questions in economics concerning Central Asia, transition processes and development in general can only be answered with better micro-level data, specifically with more longitudinal data sets. ⺠We identify two promising datasets, which may facilitate more research in the future. ⺠They may also lay the foundation for more evidence-based policy making.
