Abstract
⺠We investigate the persistence of shocks in transition countries' unemployment rates. ⺠We use modern statistical tools, i.e. nonlinear unit root tests and fractional integration. ⺠We find evidence of high persistence of shocks to the unemployment rates. ⺠Differences between countries are probably due to different economic and institutional development.
