Abstract
► We investigate the persistence of shocks in transition countries' unemployment rates. ► We use modern statistical tools, i.e. nonlinear unit root tests and fractional integration. ► We find evidence of high persistence of shocks to the unemployment rates. ► Differences between countries are probably due to different economic and institutional development.
