Abstract
⺠We bring together a new database at a detailed 35-sector level for the BRIC countries. ⺠For China, India and Russia reallocation of labour is contributing to growth, but not in Brazil. ⺠The results for India and Brazil are overturned when we distinguish between formal and informal activities.
