Abstract

A pretreatment method of Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts was proposed, which is that the catalyst precursor without calcination was reduced directly at the reduction temperature for a shorter time and cooled quickly. The catalysts pretreated in proper reduction conditions show high activities for naphthalene hydrogenation. When the reduction temperature is lower than 700 °C, the decomposition and the reduction will complete gradually with increasing the reduction temperature, which leads to the improvement of the metal dispersion and activity; while when the reduction temperature is higher than 700 °C, higher metal dispersion and activity can also be attained under appropriate conditions.
