Abstract

Graphite oxide was prepared by Hummers method and the TiO2-graphite oxide intercalated composite was successfully prepared using as prepared graphite oxide, titanium sulfate and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as initial reactants. The samples were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, UV–Vis, FT-IR and N2 physical adsorption. The TiO2-graphite oxide intercalated composite exhibits much higher photocatalytic activity than P25 for the degradation of methyl orange solution under UV irradiation. The photocatalytic efficiency of the composite has little change during four times of cyclic operation.
