Exploring the perceptions of pregnancy loss between two populations of South Indian women: a pilot study

•Two neighboring South Indian populations of women have different views of pregnancy loss.•Knowledge from both populations did not reflect current evidence-based findings on the causes of miscarriage.•These South Indian populations would benefit from public health initiatives focused on prenatal health education.
