Abstract
The particularly prominent Soviet theatre and screen-writer Aleksandr Gladkov (1912-1976) is best known for his widely loved iconic films and plays. He was best friends with quite a few notable cultural icons of the early-Soviet period. (Among the most remarkable of these were his teacher and elder colleague Vsevolod Meierkhol'd as well as Nobel-Prize winner Boris Pasternak). The present publication includes for the very first time many of the recently discovered diary and personal notes, with extensive scholarly commentary.
