Abstract
The paper dwells on the philosophical-religious aspects of the title hero of Dmitrii Merezhkovskii's novel The Romance of Leonardo da Vinci. Bearing in mind these aspects and the position this novel occupies in the trilogy Christ and Antichrist, we will try to provide an answer to the question of how the author builds the title character who succeeds in bridging the gap between pagan and Christian art. The paper also points out the key philosophical and religious systems implicitly present in the novel and explores what relation they bear on the religious-philosophical aspect of the hero.
