Abstract

The increase in safety and comfort as well as the need for weight reduction in vehicles imply the use of materials with high strength and at the same time lighter, leading to the use of Dual-Phase steels, amongst similar ones. However, their characteristics and complicated stamping process, especially with regard to springback, need to be taken into account. This work was carried out in order to predict the stamping shape through simulation and minimize stamping deviations. The use of simulation software allowed to anticipate and reduce the problems associated with the springback effect, facilitating the perception and monitoring of the intermediate and final shapes of complex parts. Consequently, after the simulations' analysis and performing the respective tools compensation, time and costs of the tools preparation can be drastically reduced. Some guidelines were drawn to improve the simulation process, aiming to adopt the best simulation procedures and save iterations and simulation time, regarding Dual-Phase steels.
