Abstract
From a relatively simple and small proteome, bacterial proteins have their functions exponentiated by way of both self- and host-mediated post-translational modifications. These post-translational modifications allow bacterial proteins to interact with host-derived proteins and to modulate several bacteria- and host-related processes essential for bacterial colonization, survival and infection as well as for host immunization.206
