Abstract
Co and Ni ferrospinels were prepared by coprecipitation and by mechano-chemical method, characterized using XRD, N2 adsorption, EDX and H2-TPR techniques and tested in the catalytic total oxidation of propane within the temperature range of 250–600 °C. Depending on the ferrospinel composition, the method of preparing it and the reaction conditions, total conversion to CO2 was observed at temperatures between 400 °C and 500 °C. The best results were obtained with the Co ferrite catalyst prepared by coprecipitation, which gives total conversion at temperatures as low as 400 °C. The ferrospinel catalysts showed a good stability during the catalytic test.
