Abstract
Zirconate and phosphate based lithium ion conductors namely, Li2ZrO3, Li2-4xZr1+x(PO4)2 (x = 0, 0.125, 0.25, 0.35, 0.45) were prepared and characterized with powder X-ray diffraction and electrical conductivity. Li2ZrO3 exhibited the lowest conductivity and in phosphates, it increased initially with increase in lithium concentration and then decreased. The transport number of lithium deduced from blocking electrode method was found to be in the range of 0.79 to 0.89 for Li2ZrO3, whereas for phosphates with x = 0, 0.125 and 0.35, tLi+ was better than 0.98. Li0.6Zr1.35(PO4)2, was found compatible in lead-lithium alloys.
