Abstract
A series of bifunctional Zn(II) complexes were shown to promote conversion of DNA from duplex into hairpin form. The most effective Zn(II) complex has a macrocyclic amine directly linked to a pendent aromatic group to enforce strong binding to unpaired thymines.106
